Sandblasting is one of the main stages of preparation of surfaces prior to application of various anti-corrosion and decorative coatings. Service life of the coating on the sandblasted surface is multiplied. Sandblasting is carried out using a mobile unit that allows the treatment on-site at the customer’s premises. Sandblasting performance – up to 40 m2/hour (depending on the initial surface condition).

Degree of pollution:

A - A significant part of the steel surface is covered with adhering mill scale, no rust or rust in small quantities

B - The steel surface starts to rust and to flake off

C - The steel surface is either completely covered with rust or rust can be scraped off. Meanwhile, there are apparent slight surface recesses.

D - The steel surface is completely covered with rust or dimples are visible to the naked eye due to general corrosion

Sa 1 Light cleaning

When there is no oil, grease, dirt, rust starting, coatings residues and other foreign substances on the surface visible with the naked eye

Sa 2 Thorough cleaning

When there is no oil, grease, dirt on the surface visible with the naked eye and oil, grease, dirt and rust, layers of paint and other foreign substances are removed nearly completely. Any remaining pollutants are firmly bonded to the surface.

Sa 2 ½ Very thorough cleaning

When there is no oil, grease, dirt on the surface visible with the naked eye, rust, layers of paint and other foreign substances are removed. Any remaining traces of pollution will only be visible in the form of small spots and stripes

Sa 3 Cleaning until visually clean steel surface

When there is no oil, grease, dirt on the surface visible with the naked eye, rust, layers of paint and other foreign substances are removed. The surface has a smooth metallic hue.

The roughness of the sandblasted surface is up to 30 µm, the treatment can be used for critical works on corrosion protection. Sandblasting in some cases enables to eliminate the stage of degreasing the surface before applying the protective coatings.
